EXTREME Close call

San Francisco INTL had a issue yesterday. a Air Canada almost landed on a side taxi-way instead of the correct runway.

There are electronic beacon and alignment guide systems used more often when VFR or visual flight rules cannot apply but apply all the time for commercial flights, they are trying to find why they were not used or ignored even in daylight clear skies as to landing this aircraft.

Very dangerous. The runway mentioned by the controller seem garbled to me?

I'm flying Air Canada to the UK, although this was pilot error I wish for one darn time, an airplane, a pilot, an airport or a terrorist attack didn't happen just before I was going somewhere! Or is it more my luck?

I've always been uneasy about flying, in a tube, thousands of miles up, always felt I wasn't supposed to be there. Now it's so tiring to fly far. My husband went twice last year, his mother has been in a nursing home for a year. I skipped. I'm looking forward to seeing more US states, by ground. The only place that would excite me now would be Africa.

Doesn't. The severity of 'Nuclear emergencies' as noted in media are as bad as having a flat on your car with the spare still inflated and available just you cannot change it.

They are under law required to report all instances of licensee deviations. Grow up, you have no clue.

This could have been a very bad situation. I wonder if the pilot was drunk or doped.

But a miss is a mile, and are near misses, that by definition are not emergencies, reported ?

I was just reading, Air Canada came within 100' of two planes, 200' of the third and 300' of the fourth, the closet lateral proximity between it and a plane on the taxiway was 29', can you imagine being in one of those planes!

But everyone knows about this, now.

Pilgrim seeks to skip cybersecurity rules - Cape Cod Times

5 days ago - Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station hopes to skate through its final year and a half of operation without all required cybersecurity measures in place.

So do they care about operating those things safely or just $$$

Five packed airplanes in close proximity with four of them full of fuel could have been the worst air disaster of all time. The experts will find out what happened.

I guess I should have been more detailed, the report which is preliminary was released by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.

And still did the passengers, who put their trust in the pilots and traffic controllers even know what happened ?

Do you understand my point, now ?

Control room conversations, control room telephones and radio messages are all recorded 24/7. There is a continuous electronic with paper backup log taken shiftly continually during the shift which is backed by recorded essential service equipment parameters for each two week session also archived for future references.

All equipment rotations, maladies, hiccups and burps are noted, any item worth notating in each operating watch station(6) for the outside the control room plant operators as I were kept as a archived log for up to ten years for referencing. They also did internal with oversight personnel confirm as a audit card key door times to credited log times for the watch station operators and against their logs as to changes on their appropriate stations and that appropriate time was spent in the associated essential sections of the facility. We rotated after two shifts to a different station within the plant as a normal condition.

All of which only matters if the near miss did not miss.

Who listens ?

They ALL listen, we have our entire years worth of recordings audited each year against the data streams to prove/disprove any wrong doing that could be suspect as in the nuclear industry you are guilty until proven otherwise.
