Looking back to see where we are

Anyone that has read my posts may recall that I'm no fan of Ronald Reagan as a President.

But that doesn't mean I cannot respect the man and here is one reason why;

A few isolated groups in the backwater of American life still hold perverted notions of what America is all about. Recently in some places in the nation there's been a disturbing reoccurrence of bigotry and violence. If I may, from the platform of this organization, known for its tolerance, I would like to address a few remarks to those groups who still adhere to senseless racism and religious prejudice, to those individuals who persist in such hateful behavior.

If I were speaking to them instead of to you, I would say to them, "You are the ones who are out of step with our society. You are the ones who willfully violate the meaning of the dream that is America. And this country, because of what it stands for, will not stand for your conduct." My administration will vigorously investigate and prosecute those who, by violence or intimidation, would attempt to deny Americans their constitutional rights.

Those words are from a Reagan speech on June 29, 1981 in Denver, Colorado, at the Annual Convention of the NAACP.

Our current President declined to speak at the NAACP.

Reagan's words are what the nation needs at a time like this, but sadly we have a President who is incapable of speaking them or even understanding them.

Trump is no Ronald Reagan. He's not anything. A clown dressed up in a clowns costume.

They showed Reagan's speech a few minutes ago on CNN. Reagan did make some excellent speeches and I liked his voice, so did the movies.....

Obama posted a photo of him visiting daycare facilty while he was president with Nelson Mandela quote. It touched me, as did John's post about Reagan's speech.

Donald Trump does not compare favorably with any President of my life time -- with regard to racial bigotry, homophobia, mysoginy, xenophobia, or hell, just about anything, including General competence. How in the name of all that is sacred did we end up with him as President.

If it were not for radical left wingers, radical ethnic persons that create more riotous actions than protests then a speech to the NAACP would be appropriate. Until BLM and other RADICAL groups calling for destruction, calling for "Vengeance" calling to violent acts then there is no point on EITHER side of the fence.

Cooter: What is a "radical ethnic person"? We are all "ethnic".

Yet we are ALL not radical in the disposition of our ethnicity are we?

I see those that have to forcibly express their hate to any and all others albeit white, black or Asian there is a radical departure element that belies and belittles the values of the rest of the citizens of that ethnicity.

To start fires, to throw rocks. to demean or deny anyone else the rights and privilege as applied by our Constitution and BOR is aberrant behavior that has to stop ON ALL SIDES.

They read that into his statements as does so many others. In that he did NOT fully blame the neo-nazi group for it all is not allowance for they to behave badly any more than for any other group to do so. It is NOT open season to take out frustrations on something or someone you have distaste of, it is time basically to ignore them and move on they will dry up with no motivation or crawl back into oblivion where they have been for decades.
