Terrible. Senseless slaughter of the innocent. It is the age of hatred incarnate and no place is safe. I struggle to understand what has happened to humanity.

Europeans and Americans have colonised and worse most of the rest of the globe, hence you can explain why some of these events are perpetrated.
The others are down to the hatred engendered by other (usually internal) political or military actions - some of these are relatively blameless others are not.

It is not due to the inhumane colonization's of several decades to centuries ago, you read into a situation too far. This is the effect of allowing uncontrolled immigration where the deep hatred by one faction sneaks in under the radar to establish itself as a power to be contended with.
May as well blame it upon the US Civil War or the Revolutionary War as with those the disheartened colonized entities elsewhere saw and sought freedom, it was due to these motions that the globe developed as it has. WWII accelerated the Muslim or Islamic radicalization with cash flow, IE Oil.

I can't read the link in the OP since it's in Spanish, but I heard on TV that the Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the attack.

There is a premise, they wish to inflict as much carnage in as many ways as possible as they can upon those they cannot turn to Islam. Radical Islam. There is no stop block save destroying them in totality to stop this.

Oh I think invading Iraq, causing all the Sunni to become permanently unemployed, tens of thousands held without trial for half a decade, etc., is what caused ISIS, not Islam.
Is there such a think as "Radical Islam"?
There are no clerics supporting it, so then how can it be at all Islamic?

ISIS/ISIL existed prior, just a splinter group and controlled, lack of those controls has set these dogs loose.

Sorry. I was day-dreaming. I had several accounts open on my computer at the same time. Picked one of the wrong ones as a link.

It depends on how you define the word "radical." I tend to think of all of Islam as being fairly radical since it is based on some pretty radical bullshit about a guy wandering around in the desert receiving an extensive and exclusive message from Allah. A notion that makes absolutely no sense.
Once people are mentally capable of believing that level of crap all bets are off. They become capable of believing just about anything including the notion that extreme violence against innocent fellow Muslims is justified as well as against non-Muslims. Islam divides humans into enemy combatants who wouldn't be enemies without the religion.
