Where am I?
It looks friendly enough, but...

Re: Learning our way around this board:
The time showing on posts must be from somewhere in the Zarkon Nebula, and in the control panel I see nothing that addresses this. What am I missing?

Re: Learning our way around this board:
Question: Is there a thread that is purely social? One in which we don't discuss anything political and don't carry on with personal grudge matches?
The board from which I've arrived had a bar, with a fictitious bartender and a fictitious server. We exchanged social news there and generally cheered each other through difficulties.
Is there something similar here?

Re: Learning our way around this board:
When I was posting yesterday, I noticed that new posts on a thread had a little red dot next to them. Later, they didn't and today they don't.
Did I turn something on or off?

Re: Learning our way around this board:
I don't think so. I used to have a fictional bar on my first board but not here. Feel free to set up any opening post you like. We talk about anything and everything around here. Its a very relaxed atmosphere.

Re: Learning our way around this board:
1. Is it possible to adjust the time showing on posts?
2. What happened to the little red dot next to new posts that I saw yesterday but don't see today?
3. Thanks for the OK to set up a social thread.

On the drop down under your name at the upper right, then under the tab Miscellaneous Information, there is a setting for Location.
Mine is set to "Mountain Time".
But lately since advertising has taken over, I can't seem to change mine any more?

Re: Learning our way around this board:
Thanks, Rigby. I had written the name of my city, and now it won't let me change it.
I see the board admin can change it in her board controls, but maybe she hasn't looked for it. It's a little box that should be set to GMT -4.
EDIT: Rose, here's where to find it:
Control Panel
Board Management: The political Grill....two
Set Misc Options
The Political Grill offset to GMT (UTC) (in hours): -4
That will post Eastern Daylight Time. When we switch to standard time, it will need to be changed to -5.

Re: Learning our way around this board:
I usually ask Rigby to handle that sort of stuff. What do you say Rig?
