Re: Trump's lie of the day:

With Trump it is more like the lie of the hour.

But to defend Trump's lies, almost everything is a lie.

Iraqi WMD, the US attacking Libya, the US invading Grenada, the 2008 housing bust not being deliberate, the bank bailouts that did not bail out individual investors, Israel owning Jerusalem, North Korea being a threat, etc.
These are all lies worse than anything Trump ever said.

I don't see anyone who can cast stones.
Trump is the best parody I have seen in a long time. I just wish he would scale it up to the point of all these lies by others.

Not sure how anything Trump says nearly compares with whoppers like "Iraqi WMD"?
It is not like we can believe the cover story about "bad intel" because Ambassador Joseph Wilson, Ambassador Kirkpatrick, and Gen. Fulford Jr. all verified Iraq had no significant WMD before Bush claimed Iraq did.

{...
The death last week of Jeane Kirkpatrick — ambassador to the United Nations during Ronald Reagan’s first term and the highest-ranking neoconservative in his administration — coincided with President Bush’s rejection of the Baker-Hamilton Commission report on Iraq and his subsequent consultations with neoconservatives to entrench his belief in “victory.” But rather than providing a sobering but inspirational backdrop for Bush’s heroic stand against the foreign-policy establishment, Kirkpatrick’s passing illuminates the conflicting legacies of the ideological movement of which she was once an icon and the confusion that surrounds a president who demands certitudes.

In its obituary, the New York Times buried a surprising scoop about her last act of diplomacy, when she was sent by President Bush on a secret mission to Geneva in March 2003 to justify the invasion of Iraq to Arab foreign ministers. “The marching orders we received were to argue that preemptive war is legitimate,” Alan Gerson, her former general counsel, recalled. “She said: ‘No one will buy it. If that’s the position, count me out.'” Instead, she argued that Saddam Hussein was in violation of United Nations resolutions. Her hitherto unknown rejection of Bush’s unilateralism and extolling of international order apparently was her final commentary on neoconservatism.

“A neoconservative is a liberal who has been mugged by reality,” neoconservative godfather Irving Kristol remarked in a famously cynical line. At the time of her death, Kirkpatrick was a neoconservative mugged by reality and a shadow of her former ferocious self. Once the warrior queen of neoconservatism, she ended as an unexplained skeptic, less the Valkyrie than the world-weary doubter, akin to the disillusioned Francis Fukuyama but without the tears of an apologetic manifesto. She checked out silently, leaving no equivalent of a political testament.

Norman Podhoretz, who had been her editor at Commentary, disclosed near the end of an obituary he published in the Weekly Standard that she had grown disenchanted. “She had serious reservations about the prudence of the Bush Doctrine, which she evidently saw neither as an analogue of the Truman Doctrine nor as a revival of the Reaganite spirit in foreign policy,” he wrote. “Even so, she was clearly reluctant to join in the clamor against it, which for all practical purposes meant relegating herself to the sidelines.” But Podhoretz declined to reveal more details of her disapproval. Abruptly, he assumed the pose of a commissar, praising her “brilliant service on the ideological front” and awarded her “laurels” for what she “earned in World War III,” though “what I persist in calling World War IV” failed to “tempt her back into battle.” Comrade Podhoretz’s oblique admission of her absence “on the ideological front” and the posthumous anecdote in the Times obituary are the runes of her alienation.
...}

But the media is so corrupt they did buy it, and they also got almost everyone to buy it then as well, even though it was 100 times more insane than even the absurd stuff Trump says.

ACLU Asks Federal Court for Immediate Halt to Trump's Transgender Military Ban

'The Transgender Service Member Ban Is Unconstitutional and Invalid on Its Face'

The ACLU is suing the Trump administration over the President's decision to ban all transgender service members from the U.S. armed forces. On Thursday the ACLU filed a motion that says the ban is unconstitutional and asks the court to halt it immediately.

snip ...

In Thursday's court filing, the ACLU notes:

quote:

The Ban is not rationally related to military effectiveness.

The Ban is not rationally related to an interest in avoiding “tremendous costs” to the military.

President Trump’s Decision to Single Out Transgender Service Members Is Impermissibly Rooted in Animus and Moral Disapproval

And it concludes that Trump's ban "is unconstitutional and invalid on its face, and the Court should enter a preliminary injunction prohibiting Defendants from implementing or enforcing it."

etc ...

Trump Announced His Transgender Military Ban Just Days After Tony Perkins Asked Him for It

Report: 'Within Days of the Meeting, Mr. Trump Took Action, Announcing His Transgender Military Ban'

On July 11 Family Research Council president Tony Perkins asked President Donald Trump to ban transgender service members from the U.S. military. Just 15 days later, on July 26, the president took to Twitter to announce he was instituting a total ban on all transgender military service members

A Sunday New York Times article detailing how the religious right has gained extraordinary access to and influence over the Trump administration refers to a six-hour meeting in July between the Christian conservatives and the White House.

At that meeting, "Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, a conservative religious lobbying group, broached the topic of banning transgender people from the military," reports the Times, citing an account from the Trump administration's religious advisor, Johnnie Moore.

"Some Republican members of Congress had been pushing for a similar prohibition, pointing to the medical costs of supporting transgender people. Again, within days of the meeting, Mr. Trump took action, announcing his transgender military ban."

That meeting (photo above), as NCRM reported at the time, was held July 11. it concluded with an Oval Office group prayer, with the conservative faith leaders laying their hands on the President. Here's a photo of that event in the Oval Office, which Moore posted to Twitter:

Pat Robertson's CBN religious news network posted a list of the attendees, which looks like a who's who of the anti-gay Christian right.

Tony Perkins, President of the Family Research Council (FRC); Pastor John Hagee, founder and senior pastor of Cornerstone Church in San Antonio; Paula White, senior pastor of New Destiny Christian Center in Apopka, Florida; former Congresswoman Michele Bachmann; Ralph Reed, chairman of the Faith and Freedom Coalition; Gary Bauer, president of American Values; Robert Jeffress, senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas, Jack Graham, pastor of Prestonwood Baptist Church in Plano, Texas; Jim Garlow, senior pastor of Skyline Church in La Mesa, California; Rodney Howard-Browne, senior pastor at the River at Tampa Bay Church, Mike Evans, the founder of Friends of Zion Museum in Jerusalem, and Richard Land, president of the Southern Evangelical Seminary in Charlotte and others.

President Trump had told the American people in his tweets that he had consulted with his generals before making the decision but that claim has been debunked. The Pentagon, according to multiple reports, is not happy about the ban and was not consulted or informed prior to the announcement. If implemented, Trump's possibly unconstitutional ban could lead to the eviction of up to 15,000 transgender troops.

As with his Muslim travel ban, several civil rights groups are suing the Trump administration in federal court in an attempt to block it.

He's not exactly doing well in the courts on this either ....

A Judge Just Halted Trump's Transgender Military Ban and Blasted His 'Capricious, Arbitrary, and Unqualified' Tweets

Announcement of Ban via Tweets 'Certainly Can Be Considered Shocking Under the Circumstances'

A federal judge has entirely halted President Donald Trump's ban on transgender people serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, and called the Commander-in-Chief's tweets announcing the total ban in July "capricious, arbitrary, and unqualified." Trump this past summer sought to bar any new transgender recruits from entering the military and discharge all openly-transgender service members.

U.S. District Court Judge Marvin J. Garbis on Tuesday afternoon became the second judge to block Trump's attempt to ban transgender service members. In late October a different federal judge blocked most of Trump's ban. In his 53-page ruling, as Buzzfeed's Dominic Holden reports, Judge Garbis also charged that Trump did not conduct any form of review of policy and did not take action in the national interest.

"President Trump’s tweets did not emerge from a policy review, nor did the Presidential Memorandum identify any policymaking process or evidence demonstrating that the revocation of transgender rights was necessary for any legitimate national interest," Judge Garbis wrote in his decision "Based on the circumstances surrounding the President’s announcement and the departure from normal procedure, the Court agrees with the D.C. Court that there is sufficient support for Plaintiffs’ claims that 'the decision to exclude transgender individuals was not driven by genuine concerns regarding military efficacy.'"

Philpott: In halting transgender ban, judges hint that US has fool for client

A novice at governing, President Trump apparently didn’t consider there might be a right way and wrong way to try to reverse the Obama administration’s policy allowing transgender Americans to serve openly in the military.

Two federal judges have now weighed in to rule the path Trump chose — announcing a ban on transgender service members in a series of tweets, with shaky claims of harmed readiness and ignoring counsel of Joint Chiefs — almost certainly violated the constitutional rights of current members as well as prospective recruits.

As a result, Trump’s order to force transgender personnel from service next year after a fresh internal study of the issue from the Pentagon, and also to block the scheduled start of recruiting of qualified transgender applicants Jan. 1, are now halted unless the Trump administration can mount a successful appeal.

The separate court rulings came three weeks apart. Both shared stinging rebukes of the way Trump tried to impose the ban, and sharp critiques of arguments by Department of Justice attorneys defending Trump’s actions. Two more court decisions over blocking the ban are pending in other circuits.

The preliminary injunction granted Oct. 30 by Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly for the U.S. Federal District Court in the District of Columbia enjoins Trump and the Defense Department from enforcing “accession and retention directives” that Defense Secretary James Mattis issued in September to implement the formal “presidential memorandum” Trump signed in August, a month after his tweets.

On Nov. 21, U.S. District Judge Marvin J. Garbis in Maryland also ...

Perhaps the biggest lie Trump has told so far is that the Republican tax changes will hurt him financially. The truth is that he will benefit from these changes.

Trump’s exact tax savings are difficult to estimate since he has refused to release his tax returns unlike every other president over the last 40 years—but it is likely to be at least $11 million a year and perhaps as much as $22 million.
