Re: Congress passes resolution telling Trump to denounce Neo-Nazis

As Belle indicated, this is a non-binding resolution that carriers with it no effect of law. However, it does place congress on record , and raises the awareness of a serious I problem in today's society. And most importantly it places our so called President in a position where he must make the decision of either doing what is right. Or doing what makes him look like the co'plete ass that he is.

It is not a waste of time when the US Congress sends a message to the president, it is not a waste of time when the public sends a message to the president, it is not a waste of time to protest. It's only a waste of time if you prefer to be a lemming and accept it all.

Not sure I would sign it either, as it is sort of a form of extortion.
The point being that we did not actually fight Germany in WWII over racism, fascism, or anything else we claim now.
The reality is that in WWI and WWII we took the side of the global imperialists and colonialists, who are actually the most racist.
In other words, we did it for profits and business.
No one should let themselves be manipulated like that.

Extortion is to sign up against white supremacy? Forget about WW1 % 2, this is 2017. It is not maniputlation, it is making a statement and I would imagine those who did not sign if are in favour of white supremacy.

Have you ever heard of any race that did not think they were superior?

Most native American tribal names actually translate to "the people", meaning anyone else not a member of the tribe was not really human. The Japanese, Swiss, and almost every group is that same way.
Its like getting involved in religion.
Not a good idea.
It is not even really legal for a pesident to endorse or impose individual political beliefs like that.

What a president could say is that all political beliefs should be tolerated, as long as they do not harm others.

No it isn't a good idea and thank goodness the majority no longer roll that way.

Republicans are making a statement to put themselves against racism and fascism for future elections. It is an attempt to distance themselves from Trump.

It also gives Trump the opportunity to show where he stands, even if it's a meaningless gesture.

But I never thought that in 2017 we would have Congress urging the President to "speak out against hate groups that espouse racism, extremism, xenophobia, anti-Semitism, and White supremacy".
