Bernie speaks
And basically has little of value to state.
Presents bill to Expand Medicare to ALL US citizens, has nothing in it as to how to pay for it.

Will most likely die on the floor as non-functional.

Re: Bernie speaks
Like the Canadian system it would be paid for with tax money. It all depends what the people think tax dollars should be spent on. Has The American people ever been asked should they pay more for the military than all the other countries combined? I think not.

Re: Bernie speaks
Bernie thinks the federal government will have to raise taxes by $3 trillion per year to pay for this.

Re: Bernie speaks
I will be on Medicare with a supplement shortly, I paid for the 'Benefit' in my payroll taxes of 45+ years. Will enrage all too many that have paid in as I and will most likely see the benefit reduced to pay for any and everyone.
And as to that, there is still a copay or a supplemental insurance to pay the 20% that Medicare does not.

Re: Bernie speaks
Bernie is making the argument that the taxes needed to pay for this will be more than offset by the savings in the cost of health care.
As he described his legislation, Sanders focused on its simplicity, suggesting that Americans would be happy to pay higher taxes if it meant the end of wrangling with health-care companies. The size of the tax increase, he said, would be determined in a separate bill.
“I think the American people are sick and tired of filling out forms,” Sanders said. “Your income went up — you can’t get this. Your income went down — you can’t get that. You’ve got to argue with insurance companies about what you thought you were getting. Doctors are spending an enormous amount of time arguing with insurers.”
Sanders acknowledged that the plan would be costly but pointed to the experience of other industrialized countries that provided universal coverage through higher taxes. The average American paid $11,365 per year in taxes; the average Canadian paid $14,693. But the average American paid twice as much for health care as the average Canadian.

Re: Bernie speaks
How in the hell can he make that blanket statement? Medicare is one of the most corrupted forms of abused medical billing currently out there where the Fed cannot seem to get control of it or the expenses.
Cannot get what they expect from a process, mark up the fee a few tens of percent and receive the very figure they really wanted in the first place. My neck surgery was listed as almost $80,000 when all the bills arrived, they were only insurance allowed almost $32,000 in payments. Two inserts, two hours surgical time, one night stay in hospital. For a series of non-covered expenses for a foot issue I had the Doctor's office changed the bill to a cash sale for my benefit and charged 1/5th what they were to charge insurance, voluntarily.

Re: Bernie speaks
You're assuming that neck surgery has to cost $80,000, Cooter.
