Tiny apartments:

In the world's tiniest apartments, there's hardly any room to think.

https://www.msn.com/en-ca/money/homeandproperty/28-crazy-pictures-of-micro-apartments-around-the-world/ss-AAtpE5m?ocid=spartandhp

[ Many of the biggest cities in the world are too expensive to live in. Nonetheless people flock to these cities because that is where the jobs are. Apartments are expensive and often small. In fact many are ridiculously tiny and still costly. People don't live like this because they want to. They have no choice.]

Dear friend of our family lives in NYC, he and his wife live in 362 sq. ft. of apartment there, that includes a toilet with a sink but no shower or tub as they are in a cold water flat with a shared full bath between four flats.

At a paltry $2900/month PLUS utilities as phone and electric. Car parking would be additional $1800/month IF they owned one.

I read somewhere that a man in NYC paid a million dollars for a permanent parking space.

To them the access to theatre, entertainment venues and such in NYC is life, I personally cannot see it.

Re: Tiny apartments:

I love watching House Hunters International, when those from the US, Canada, NZ or Australia go to one of larger popular, expensive cities in Europe. They request, modern kitchen, bath, spacious closets, outdoor space in the central area, with no noise please and for $1200 or under a month. You get about 150 sq. ft. for 2k. it is not modern and yes the toilet and bath are separate no you will not have a tub, the bed pulls out from the wall and there is no outdoor space, no balcony but you can open the window but then there is the noise.....

Living a few miles from the center of the city is a different life and still gives you access to all that plus the flavor of city life toned way down. I lived 8 miles from Central London and had to go to up once a week, the first 4 months I loved it but it turned to hate. It gets to stressful, to many live there, to many worker bees, to many tourists. Going into town for pleasure was completely a different story that I never tired of. The only way I'd live central any big city is if I was very wealthy and could hire a lot of help. There are some lovely places on the river in SW London that look like a country painting just 20 min. away from Central London. There are many finds in any big city, Paris is one of my favorites, go out of where everyone wants to be smack in the middle and it's so much better for living, you can have a bit of city life or tree lined suburbs.
