In the Olympics and other non professional sports games and professional sports they do "sex verification" testing. I knew of Jenna Jameson and I just read her bio, she could be in trouble, she claims to be bi and has had sex with a hundred women, are you sure Jenna they WERE women. emoticon I read my exes Playboys in the 70's and I thought the articles were excellent.

That is not appearance, personality, etc., but biological chemistry. It would be unfair for a person with one type of muscle to compete against someone else who has a different kind of muscle due to a DNA advantage.

Nonsense - according to the people that actually know about such things, after a time on hormone therapy any advantage and MTF trans* competitor might have originally had is completely gone. (And that doesn't even consider someone who started on hormone blocker before the onset of puberty so they never had that supposed advantage.)

And since both the NCAA and the IOC allow transgender athletes to compete (they both use essentially the same rules - FTM can compete immediately and MTF have to be on hormone therapy for a minimum period of time - speaking from memory it's two years).

But these rules have been in effect for a number of years and, if *the concerns expressed by Rigby were in any way valid, we'd already have seen the sports world dominated by these athletes. We haven't.

And the fact is, trans athletes are monitored even more strictly that cisgendered competitors - they're testosterone levels are monitored on a regular basis and must fall within strict limits. No-one cares what a cisgendered male's athlete's levels are - the only concern is that they are natural and don't come out of a bottle.

All I know is that as a university student-athlete I was a somewhat better than average small college track and field athlete. However, had I been allowed to compete as a woman, I would have been a world record holder in both the 400 and 800 metres. ;-)

I am not so sure that hormone blockers can be that accurate? Women and men both have both hormones, just in different ratios, and each individual cell is still going to have different DNA that causes some differentiation. I don't see how it could work perfectly to transition from one gender to another. Energy conversion is different in each individual cell even.

Flooding a man's body with estrogen, makes him, grow breasts, have wide hips and a butt, you are now losing your muscle mass and gaining fat distribution.

On the ships it happened sometimes that a sailor would be taken advantage of by what was called, back then, a drag queen.

It was hard not to fess up as his own judgment and sexuality was in called into question, and it being fundamentally upsetting, that needed to talked about.

Besides, usually with one of victims of sort sexual predator , at least one of his shipmates saw her, too, and it was always the same story, "he looked pretty good to me, too."

But the unwritten rule was he got !@#$ for it at sea, but that ended when we reached the next sea buoy.
It was like what happened in Rio, stays in Rio.

My point is twofold, is being trans-gender and not saying so fraud, and as that might be a fair point, at what point should full disclosure be required ?

So ladies of TBG, you should not comment here unless you look at

... first.

And if you'd been on MTF hormone treatment any advantage you would have had would have disappeared in a very short time.

I think there are sexual secrets one doesn't have to or should share however this is not one of them, I'd disclose. One of my favorites movies addresses this, "The Crying Game."

A suggestion - learn something about the subject.

In cases where a prepubescent child is receiving medical treatment, hormone blockers are given to children who are about to enter puberty - they're widely used in cases of precocious puberty and simply stop the individual from entering puberty. (As an aside the results are completely reversible - just stop taking them and puberty restarts.)

Cross sex hormones are usually begun somewhere in the mid-teens.

But in this case the individual never develops the sex characteristics of the sex they were assigned at birth. That means an MTF athlete never developed masculine features (male musculature and skeletal structure in particular).

And the DNA argument gets floated a lot - thing is, it doesn't work. Genetics is a lot more complex than the material we all learned in grade school, much of which was wrong in any case. There are XX males and XY females - fact is, a disproportionate percentage of female models are actually XY. And an XY female can mature normally, experience menses, become pregnant and give birth to healthy children.

As I said, both the NCAA and the IOC have been allowing trans athletes to compete for years and they haven't dominated the sporting world. (There were at least three transgender athletes competing in Rio and none of them even medalled.)

But it's not just amateur sports. Professional tennis, mixed martial arts, and the LPGA come to mind - and there are others. And so far we haven't seen these athletes dominate their sport.
