"PER Capita is one thing TOTALS are another."

Cooter are you now adding factual falsehoods in defense of you original contention that others have questioned so successfully ?

"PER Capita is one thing TOTALS are another"

How so ?
Everyone who uses the term "per capita" should understand that the total is alway just a mathematical function of the per capita rate X the population of any given area.

So if there is more per capita violence then the real total of violence that one faces is only apparently relative, because is actually, factually, higher, when viewed from the individual's point of view, wherever there is the more per-capita violence.

That's the truth and it is not highest in Chicago as you Trump claim, is it, really ?

Happy New Year.

Countdown of the top 30 cities in the U.S. with the highest murder rates – 2017

Our crime research reveals the 30 cities in America with the highest number of murders per 1,000 residents. Murder is the willful (non-negligent) killing of one human being by another. We limited our research to cities with 25,000 or more people. Data used for this research are 1) the number of murders reported to the FBI to have occurred in each city, and 2) the population of each city.

In fact Chicago IL is not even in
the countdown for the Top 30 Murder Capitals of America 2017 at all.

Some of those places are surprising to see. It's hard to understand what is happening really. Places such as Myrtle Beach, SC; Baton Rouge, LA; Salinas, CA ... I didn't expect it.

"A rash of gun violence in Baton Rouge overnight Friday left four people dead and investigators searching for answers during the final days of 2017, already the deadliest year ever recorded for East Baton Rouge Parish."

"East Baton Rouge Parish broke its record for the number of homicides in one year earlier this month when the total reached 97."

Re: Chicago comes to a high point yet again

I found one on the list where my brother bought a home, Desert Hot Springs, CA., he sold his home awhile before the big crash and bought in this neighborhood that only has a population of 26k, it had become run down and was being built up with new homes, schools, malls, etc. He thought it was going to go up market. All construction stopped he he found himself dealing with much crime, including the cartel being there. By the third time I visited him, I stayed in a hotel, till he finally took a huge loss and went back to Palm Desert.

Rates will not match totals. Chitcago has managed the greater NUMBER of murders for the US, not by percentage by TOTAL VOLUME. Numero UNO and not getting better.

St. Louis which DID make the top 30 in PERCENTAGE or PER CAPITA(of a decreasing populations number) only had 205 last year where Chitcago had well over 600.
