Re: Republicans don't understand: Tax cuts don't spur economic growth

Tax cuts may not spur macroeconomic growrh. But at the micro level they definately spur my personal economic growth. And being as selfish as i am, that is my primary concern.

My own retirement and investment accounts are doing exceptionally well theses days Hawk. Not having to so heavily rely on the farm income or my newly acquired position of distraction income. I am quite happy of the current Trickle Down into my coffers.

Why do seem intent in finding fault with my comments?

I posted this article because I think it makes some valid points. That does not necessarily mean I agree with the author's every thought or word.

You seem to have focused on the title rather than the details of the article, which is mostly about corporate taxes.

So perhaps you can show me - and the author - how cutting corporate taxes in the past has led to economic growth?

How you know that you have benefited from tax cuts passed only a month ago?

Are you so blind? Myretirement accounts as are MOST US citizens are market based. The markets are reveling in growth with the passdown to retirement accounts Blossoming.

Taxes are but a small part of the entire process, you narrow your vision too tightly.

Even if this is all true, it doesn't prove the claims made about tax cuts.

As the article says, "According to the administration, U.S. companies would bring back factories from overseas and foreign companies would rush to take advantage of low U.S. taxes, and this surge in investment would lead to more jobs and higher productivity growth, eventually translating into higher wages for workers."

It's far too soon to judge these things, but based on history there is no reason to think they will ever happen.

John, the International Monetary Fund released their projections for global economic activity yesterday and noted that the tax cut in the US would boost economic activity and GDP growth here and would also benefit other countries' economies, particularly over the next two years.

But the fund [IMF] cautioned that the positive effects of the U.S. tax changes, which include a lower rate for corporations, would be fleeting. It said that expiring tax provisions and larger fiscal deficits brought on by the tax cuts would drag growth lower, starting in 2022.

...

But it also identified several risk factors that could hamper growth over the longer run, including inequality, climate change, political instability and "inward-looking policies" that could result in barriers to trade.

All the additional points affect routine economics as well so non-issue. As to the Expiration Date, it is not an Automatic cancel, it comes up for review and potential renewal so to state it as fleeting due to that effect is speculative at best.
