Re: Republicans don't understand: Tax cuts don't spur economic growth
Paul Ryan Deletes Tweet Praising Tax Cuts for Giving Secretary $1.50 Raise to Pay for Costco Membership
Deletion Followed Quick Backlash

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan quickly deleted a tweet on Saturday that praised the Republican tax cut bill for the rich for allowing a high school secretary to pay for her Costco membership with a $1.50 a week raise.
“A secretary at a public high school in Lancaster, PA, said she was pleasantly surprised her pay went up $1.50 a week,” the tweet read. “… she said [that] will more than cover her Costco membership for the year.”

A sniveling disingenuous hack from Wisconsin said he was pleasantly surprised to find $500,000 in his bank account after shoving the GOP tax bill down Americans' throats. "Hey lookie there!" he said, grinning. "How about that! A half million dollars!" https://www.snopes.com/kochs-contributed-ryan-after-tax/ …

And where does the money come from for those sales?
Most times it comes right out of the pockets of those like you, me, and all the other average citizens.
That's what drives an economy. All the tax cuts in the world won't do a damn thing if people cannot afford to buy.
So maybe this secretary did get a raise because of the tax cuts. A $1.50 a week raise means a lousy $78 more a year.

Re: Republicans don't understand: Tax cuts don't spur economic growth
You all forget, it took a Industry to produce the raw goods, another to make them into a usable supply chain material for yet another to make components to feed yet another to make finished goods.
THEN you can state the same business pay US to work in those chain of events so we may Purchase said goods as we find finance to do so. This is NOT the Company Store days of the old mining industries selling you your tools at three times the price to produce, this is economics 101. At best profit margins are calculated in the single digits, some make it to 10,12 even 15%, maybe you all need to go to a REAL school as to how the REAL world functions.
No finances flow UP, they continually flow down. You do not make an income you do not have any finances flowing DOWN to you to make purchases.

Re: Republicans don't understand: Tax cuts don't spur economic growth
The market got hammered.
http://money.cnn.com/2018/02/02/investing/why-dow-dropping/index.html
The takeaway from this article
Unemployment is historically low, and there are more open jobs than people to fill them.
Companies are starting to pay workers more to retain existing employees and attract new hires.
Nothing to do with the tax bill. Just common sense that would have happened in any case.
Businesses will eventually have to raise prices on the stuff they sell to afford their growing payrolls. In economics, that's called inflation. That inflation could lead to interest rate rises etc. etc.
So those increased wages aren't going to help a lot. Especially when they're more than offset by increases in the cost of medical insurance as well as increases in deductibles.

Really. Do you NOT recall I noted this as far back as a YEAR AGO. Jobs have been and were plentiful for an entire YEAR, in some regions for SEVERAL years. So has little to do with where you are going as just Happened to occur AFTER DT signed the new tax bill.

Re: Republicans don't understand: Tax cuts don't spur economic growth
No - it just made the press after the idiot in the White House signed the tax bill.
For example, Walmart has been raising wages for the last couple of years because they're trying to shed the image of the "low wage employer" and, of course, they have to compete with other retailers for staff.
Republicans started claiming that this was all the result of a tax bill that's already starting to drive the deficit thru the roof (and we haven't even gotten as far as discussing funding for the military).

But the bonus programs were NOT in the media sights so to speak and the after signing raises were generous as opposed to making up for inflation.
