Cars were made for transportation and there are plenty laws as well, some I'd change as well! The Ar-15 from what I have read was made for the military for war to kill as many as possible at a time, what is the need for the average citizen and when are Americans going to get out of the mind set if I want it I can have it?

That's at the core of the lawsuit against Remington over Sandy Hook

quote:

The families of nine victims who were killed and one teacher who survived are part of the lawsuit which argues that Remington, the parent company of the manufacturer, Bushmaster, knowingly marketed a military weapon to civilians.

ABSOLUTELY NO Import duties in UK?

Really, that was tough.

You misread, there are no import duties from EU to EU country. With VAT if the product is staying in the UK it is charged the VAT, if it is going to another EU country that country pays their VAT charge.

Many of those Americans who get all hot and bothered about even the suggestion of the government banning rifles like the AR-15 have no problem with the government locking up fellow Americans on ridiculous drug charges. They just don't want the government interfering with the freedom to own the particular piece of hardware that they want.

They obviously care more about it than they do the lives of innocent kids in schools. And they rationalize that greater love with lame platitudes like "guns don't kill people, people do."

My question is so what? That can be said about every dangerous thing that is already banned in order to save lives. And those bans they have no problem with.

My husband still asks many questions about our politics. Once again I was explaining the rights position on gun control and I used the "guns don't kill people, people do," which I guess he had never heard, he lost his cool, he couldn't believe anyone with a lick of common sense and half a brain would utter words like that! Matter of fact, who came up with that doozy?

Katie, your husband's reaction to the dozy remarks made by the pro-gun lobby rather mirror those of all non-American first world nations.

That's a good question but that "doozy" is a very effective conscience soother of people who have no problem caring more about their AR-15s than they do school kids. Many of them don't even realize that they care more about guns than kids due to that clever little bit of propaganda which they have stamped into their minds.

From their perspective since guns are not a problem in this society loving those guns and putting them ahead of the lives of children can't be what they are doing. Even though it is exactly what they are doing in reality.

That's one reason why I like to remind them of their double standard when it comes to illegal drugs. Drugs don't kill people any more than guns do but they have no problem treating both drug users and dealers like they are evil people selling and using an evil thing.

Their attitudes toward both guns and drugs are largely the result of propaganda. Just very different kinds of propaganda.
