Did Kennedy win in a massive landslide in 1960

I'm asking the people who insist that 304 electoral votes is a massive landslide. Kennedy got 303. And he WON the popular vote.

... won the popular vote by how much , a landslide, perhaps ?
I'm asking you.

Then can you make a positive argument for Electoral College in the computer age ?

In point of fact, given the best arguments that I've ever heard for it, how is it not correct to suggest that in 2016, when it was needed to prevent a crazy incompetent who did not win the popular vote from becoming POTUS it failed to function as it was it intended to do. Instead it rubber stamped Putin's gift to America.

The EC, what is it good for ?

How much did he win the popular vote by??? As regards the question WHAT THE HELL DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE? HE WON THE POPULAR VOTE! Jesus Christ, he could have won it by 1 vote and that would be enough. Damn, even if he had lost the popular vote (but not as much as Trump) that would still be enough.

I'm not making a positive or negative argument about the electoral college. This is about the numbers. That's what decides a landslide, the numbers.

I had to look, 112,827 or 0.17% of the popular vote. Amazing to remember is the changing red/blue map where CA., OR., and WA. were red and all the south but MS. and AL. were blue.

Relative to if it might be correct to say if it is true that Kennedy won by a landslide, YOUR QUESTION< BTW, if you do not understand how by much did he win the popular vote and what "by a landslide" actually means, you saying "WHAT THE HELL DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?" raises the question of if you, Ms. mmmjvpssm are for real.

Seriously. I'm sure I don't really know but you totally fit the profile of a Russian sleeper troll, mmmjvpssm.

Re: Did Kennedy win in a massive landslide in 1960

Thank you Katie.

It doesn't matter what my definition of "landslide" is. I'm asking this question of people who insist that Trump won by a massive landslide. Trump lost the popular vote. Kennedy won the popular vote. It doesn't matter by how much. Unless you are totally insane there is no way you can argue that Trump won in a landslide but Kennedy didn't because his popular vote margin wasn't large enough. If your definition of "landslide" requires a huge popular vote margin then obviously you don't consider Trump's win to be a landslide and so this question is not aimed at you.

304 electoral votes and losing the popular vote.
303 electoral votes and winning the popular vote.
If the first one was a landslide how the hell was the second one not a landslide.

The same question could be asked, even more so, about both of Obama's wins. In 2008 he got 365 electoral votes and won the popular vote by almost nine million. The record 69,456,897 votes he got in 2008 still stands today. That was four years after the cons all swooned and went gaga over Bush's then record 62,040,610 votes in 2004. And yet the cons all insisted that obama just barely won.

It's not just 2016 and 1960 either. Consider 1992 when Clinton won the popular vote and got 370 electoral votes and won the popular vote by six million. And all I heard from the right back then was OMG he didn't win a majority. This was before I had internet so I don't know how widespread that was. Then just four years later Bush loses the popular votes and only gets 271 electoral votes and suddenly the popular vote doesn't count. It counted a whole lot in 1992 but not in 2000. What changed. In 2004 Bush wins the popular vote by three million and gets 286 electoral votes and the cons acted like that was a huge landslide (remember those red maps the cons loved posting?) Then just four years later Obama gets 79 more electoral votes than Bush did in 2004 and wins the popular vote by triple what Bush won it by in 2004 and all I'm hearing is how close the race was, how Obama just barely won by the skin of his teeth.
