How long will it be before we have a woman President?
How long will it be before we have a woman President? Years ago I stated predicting that Hillary Clinton would be the first female to become President of the United States. Boy....was I wrong. It wasn't because I was particularly fond of her but only that I felt she would be the one to break through the ultimate glass ceiling.
I'm beginning to think its still at least 20 years down the line before its likely to happen. The "Me Too" movement shows that many men still believe a woman place is lying on a bed....not behind the big desk in the White House. I am no longer optimistic that it will happen soon. What about you?

How long will it be before we have a woman President?

Not just any woman a woman who can do the job. I'm looking at Kamala Harris sometime in the future, hopefully before I'm dead.

Gender is irrelevant. What's important is competence, intelligence, civility, and dignity.

Re: How long will it be before we have a woman President?
Gender is relevant in that it sets a precedent. If a woman is elected, it shows that a woman CAN BE elected. Do if two equally qualified people are running, one a man and one a woman, I would vote for the woman no matter how much I liked the man.
I was batty about Bernie, but I chose Hillary -- who I think was actually more qualified, but I would have done this if she had been only AS qualified -- because she was a woman. If we had had women presidents before, gender would not have been a consideration. I would have chosen ONLY on the basis of who I thought was more qualified.

I was hoping to see a woman president in my lifetime, also.
Maybe one will run against the twittering idiot in the next election.
She'll need to have a cleaner slate than Hillary. And no i didn't vote for Trump. I voted for the lesser of two evils.

Re: How long will it be before we have a woman President?
Dozens of countries have had women leaders for decades, some 2nd and 3rd world, some where it is a man's world, India, Pakistan come to mind, we certainly are behind.

Re: How long will it be before we have a woman President?
It's difficult to predict but it could easily be a long time before a woman is elected president. As we saw in the last presidential election there are a lot of sexist people who vote in this society who aren't very interested in seeing a woman elected president. Regardless of Hillary's flaws, she seemed to be far and away the better of the two candidates in that election and yet a majority of both white men and white women did not vote for her.
That not only indicates that a woman will have a difficult time being elected president but also, as I have pointed out, provides further evidence that I am right about how dysfunctional our jury system is in handling cases involving women. If the white voting public would support someone like Trump over Hillary white jurors are unlikely to give a white woman on trial a fair shake.
