Many see racism, when it isn't present.

And many times it is present.

While your point may be valid, it ignores the history of racism - white racism against blacks - with much of it built into our laws.

There are still people alive today that remember those laws and the struggle to change them.

John i remember those laws and the struggle to change them. Racism is not peeking around ever corner as portrayed by the media.

Yes African Americans have been treated badly in the past.
In the year 2018 they are seen as equals, as it should be.

Why so many want to repeat and relive the past is beyond my comprehension. It is time for society to pull it's big panties up and get on with their lives.

Many (including whites) will have to concede that life isn't always fair or equal to all.

It isn't about fairness it is about a persons civil rights, throughout this country every day thousands of black boys/men are harassed because of their colour. It is around every corner if you are black and requiring "society" (not sure who you mean) just to pull up the big panties is an insult. It's getting where people think black people or Hispanics, Muslims, just ought to get on with it, I guess they should be called lucky, after all they don't have segregation. cross burnings and lynchings any longer.

Those thousands of men of color are only what the news reports. Why don't we hear more about the white men whom have had their rights trampled upon? It doesn't happen?

We are all born equal, we just don't stay that way after the birth process.

There will always be hierarchy in societies.

Two thoughts; They are not seen as equals by all Americans and it isn't just about African Americans.

Incidents of racism are too often seen as separate, but's all part of the same thinking.

A radio personality makes an insensitive remark but hey, he's just a guy on the radio trying to funny.

A politician makes an insensitive remark but hey, it doesn't mean he hates certain people.

The President makes an insensitive remark but hey, he still respects women.

So maybe people are supposed to save their outrage for the truly obvious, extreme incidents of racism, like burning a cross.

Well, look where we are. We have neo-Nazis protesting and people protesting against them, and our President condemns them equally, as if they both have valid points.

It's not about racist incidents, it's about those that view others as less, as the cause of problems, and deserving of disrespect.

The reliving the past is being done by racists, not those opposed to it. It's done by those that still wave Confederate flags, by those that want the Christian God back in schools.

In any case the charge was loitering, the definition of that is hanging out for an extended period of time, which did not happen. I don't know who she is as a person but I can guess why she called the police, fear. White woman looking at a big black, hairy guy, poorly dressed was scared.

I've only been to Starbuck's once. IMHO it's highly over-rated.

Obviously the woman doesn't need to be managing a business. But i believe if it's simply "she was afraid" she would be afraid of two big hairy white men, also.

Exactly! Well said John!

I agree neo-nazis are racists, but i do think there are black racists who hate whites simply because they are white. What do you think?

That isn't true, fear of black men by white women is not uncommon. Fear is what kept black persons down by whites and still does. I also think a lot of the shootings of black men are by cops who are fearful because of skin colour. You go on certain other boards and you see it posted all the time, how bad, violent, criminal, lazy, addicted, doing nothing but making welfare babies, is the MO of black men. Hardly a day goes by without posts on black males particulary in Chicago and black crime. Those posts also include a lot of very racist statements, those who have no problem with the "N" word as well. Then there are the full on racist sites, hundreds. Far to many persons still look at black men as the boogeyman, the one hiding in your bedroom in the dark, waiting to come out and get you.

Of course there are, but I think most of the hatred of blacks against whites comes from how whites have treated blacks starting with slavery.

Katie i agree with some of what you say. I don't go to these types of sites anymore. There is no reasoning with a rock. Most of the people on these sites aren't aware? or totally disregard how racist they actually are. SOS daily with these cretins.

My boogeymen were white. emoticon

I agree the start was slavery. But doesn't there come a time when people have to learn to start with a new slate?
Learn to deal with the atrocities of life that happened to them and move on?

I don't think for the vast majority the issue is slavery. It is listening to mothers of black children, black boys/men in present day. Just over 13% of persons are black yet the statistics of blacks in jail compared to whites is appalling, according to racists it is because they are the crime committers and I disagree with such a blanket statement. I mention fear because there are whites across this country who have had none or little interaction with blacks, when they read negative or racist material it encourages that fear.
