not sure what your reading,
but the governor of Virginia did a executive order to undo a Civil War-era provision in the state’s Constitution. Virginia imposed especially harsh restrictions, barring felons from voting for life.
The executive order only affects felons who have served their sentence and have finished their parole.

I read it, released 200,000 persons, ending with 44,000 which allowed this 'person' to run for office. I'm not opposed to certain persons getting back their voting rights but 44,000 whose history apparently was not a concern, was not the right way to do it.

Beliefs, what beliefs? This isn't about politics or the first amendment. It is about a pedo, rapist, domestic abuser and a person who threatened to kill a president all which are against the law and big time laws, legally, morally, ethically. We have been taught that rapists and pedos are sick and once elected, leave him alone with kids or women, right, where taxpayers are paying 174k a year plus bennies, insane Trump world and I'm to old for this !@#$ I read stuff like this and it makes me want to flee, which is becoming a daily feeling!

Katie, I didn't read that he has actually committed pedophilia acts against children - just that he thinks it's ok. The same with rape and such. I think he's a disgusting and horrible person, but that's not a grounds for denying him the vote or the right to run for office. I think conviction for felonies should prevent someone from exercising those rights, at least until their sentence is fully served. But to deny someone those rights based on something they believe or support, without a corresponding conviction for criminal acts, is simply a violation of the First Amendment.
Someone with those beliefs who runs on them as a platform will never get elected d, so calm down a bit.

In an interview with Huffpo he was asked if he was a pedophile or just liked to write about pedophilia, his reply, "it's a mix of both," adding regarding women, "plenty of women liked to be raped." First off that statement is enough for me, has he been convicted of it, no but I would imagine millions have not been over decades, so what, he gave the answer, so would you leave him alone with your daughter/grand daughter and if the answer is no, I don't think he should be running for Congress. Second, women do not like to be raped, rape is a violent act that has caused many women a life of hell, what women like is their man tearing off their knickers cause they want to make love and have hot sex, well hopefully most of us....that also makes it a no go, you cannot be a Congress person and think rape is wanted. Both I do realize are ill people and I am sorry and I mean that, it would be horrible but that doesn't mean the public must suffer especially in a political office. To top it off a person who threatens to kill the president, what's next an assassin? Bloody hell, this all blows me away, are boundaries totally gone, is this old' hippie' become a right wing conservative?

The First Amendment doesn't say anything about allowing anybody with any sort of beliefs to run for public office. It only covers not abridging their right to speak freely. Whether that includes giving them free reign to run for public office which they would be guaranteed to lose after speaking ridiculous bullshit is not so clear.
Not only that but the freedom to speak freely is subject to government restrictions. If someone freely expresses their belief that someone should be harmed and their desire to harm someone, especially some public officials, they may find themselves locked up behind bars.
This guy seems to be trying to promote violent crimes which is a bit like shouting fire in a crowded movie theatre. It's not exactly inciting a riot but something similar.
He's a very stupid guy. Too bad we can't lock up people just for expressing extremely stupid ideas.
