I think what Philer is saying is that when one is indifferent to the pain of others, then whether or not they murder them depends only on whether or not there is something to gain from it. A profit motive.

Not all Prima Donnas are killers but many killers qualify as Prima Donnas. The main reason for pointing that out is to make it clear that they don't do what they do due to things like a loss of self-control or passion that makes them do things they don't really want to do. Or insanity, temporary or otherwise.

When some guy murders his wife's boyfriend it isn't because he is a good guy who lost control of himself due to passion but rather because he is a self-absorbed Prima Donna who didn't like having his large ego bruised by another man becoming involved with his wife. That isn't how this society has generally viewed such criminals but it is their true nature.

Prima Donnas may even like to see pain in other people and may like to cause it. Even your common practical joker can have a little of the Prima Donna(or a lot) in him. Humiliating and aggravating other people can easily be a sign of one. The bottom line is that they are extremely concerned with what they want and not with the rights of other people.

But since that can't be inherent or have evolved, then there has to be something wrong with our culture that is causing, training, or somehow conditioning people to be Prima Donnas.
You can't blame the individual alone, since in reality they are also the victim.

"Ego bruising"happens to all of us at one time or another, you don't murder over it, it happens to multi millions every year and they call it a broken heart.

Prima Donnas can murder over a bruised ego, that's the point. As I've mentioned before, it takes very little for them to believe they've got some sort of adequate reason to turn to violence.

It's due to their high opinion of themselves and their agenda as well as their lack of concern and respect for other people who have bothered them in some way. The bother can be very minimal.

What's wrong in our culture is a focus on males and what they want to the point where they are favored over females and other males in groups less well regarded by this society. When a society respects and treats one group much better than other ones that is recipe for generating all sorts of problems.

Of course that favored treatment tends to begin at home and it can easily generate potentially dangerous individuals who have little to no respect for other people beginning in childhood.

Yes, I can see how that is likely.
Sort of bad helicopter parents, even if they mean well.

For my generation that is true and some still hold that belief. I wanted and knew I was going to college by time I was 13, my parents idea was go to college to meet a successful husband and then stay home. That is no longer true.

"But since that can't be inherent or have evolved, then there has to be something wrong with our culture that is causing, training, or somehow conditioning people to be Prima Donnas." (so may-by murders ?)

I don't wish to derail the conversation, but can others see how this thinking is just one step short of the most nasty sort of racism ?

The missing link would be why can't "them"people be just like me with my superior culture, even as that culture excludes them.

Think in terms of how different some people's life experience is because of how the State interacts with them with the police and legal system.
