Re: Visiter to Newloundland: Typically as much as 90% of an iceberg is below the water level. Thiis is a berg that.could create havoc for small boats in this village. My first reaction when I saw the title of the thread was who in the world actually wants to visit Newfoundland? lol

OK, I confess to not having visited Newfoundland. And made my statement on the basis of a sight unseen comparison to Greenland, which I have visited. And which is definately not beautiful.

Re: Visitor to Newfoundland: When we were there we didn't see any bergs but sure saw a lot of birds {beautiful Puffins] moose and whales. The only problem was the food. Greasy and tasteless, hardly any fresh fish and nothing compared to the food in Nova Scotia.

"libido sciendi"..... the passion to know.
I havent seen a puffin for years!
they used to be fairly common in their breeding plumage (they are fairly drab off season) but despite actively looking for some the last couple of years no luck.
Do you get skuas?
I was attacked by some a few years back and it was quite scary, my dog who bore the brunt of the attack hardly seemed to notice them skimming the ground at high speed before shooting vertically upwards at the last instant - when I was getting this treatment I could feel the wind off them as they went passed my face
