The second row guy:

The second row guy:

The latest incident on American Airlines highlights the important role cell phone cameras play in holding airlines accountable for their treatment of passengers .

http://www.cnn.com/2017/04/23/opinions/cell-phone-democracy-airlines-opinion-cevallos/index.html

[ The second row guy is a hero in my opinion. He stood up to authority and to hell with the consequences. Something happened to that poor woman and this guy reacted to it. He stood up for a stranger being bullied and risked going to jail for it. Both the employee and the Captain should be fired. What do you think?]

Re: The second row guy:

I think that Americans are obsessed with 'rghts' they dont actually have.

here you wouldnt get a stroller onto the plane - and quite right too if there is an incident I dont want my already narrow exit blocked by someones stroller.

and this guy who said
quote:

“Hey, bud? Hey, bud? You do that to me and I’ll knock you flat,” the male passenger says, rising from his seat.

should have been kicked off the plane and banned from the airline

the problem with these incidents recorded on cell phones is that they show the incident but not what caused it.

Huh ?
That's a very foolish point.

In an "incident" ... who, but you, while making a ridiculous authoritarian argument, would base your point on the mother of twins being a danger to you as she, la-tee-da, is getting her carriage and parasol ?

Really, YOU didn't, did you ?

How your point is based on a woman, a mother, not knowing how to behave in crisis situation
is you being a huge sexist, but who will you say is being one now for calling you out? emoticon

Then, back to Rose's point about the man being heroic by questioning authority and how far far-fetched your authoritarian rationale is, IF and it is an big if, the baby equipment should not be allowed on the plane, shouldn't an effective authoritarian be all about sending the gate attendant who allowed this offense to occur, be who you should be calling for to be sent to gulag ?

I would say "hit me, bring it on" was the wrong response from the air steward, he shouldn't be inviting violence. If the woman holding the baby was experiencing violence by the crew member, you go second row man. I am wondering how the woman made it on the plane in the first place with a stroller, a car seat and two babies without being stopped before boarding.

Not if he was an authoritarian prick, knowing the that's the way for him to be sure to win.
Striking the crew is like hitting a cop.

If that happened the conversation would be quite different and the passive aggressive authoritarian prig might ...well, still have a job, being sadistic to passengers, don't you think ?

That probably would be true, I hear the word air steward and I get angry. They are rude bullies, what happened to coffee, tea or milk? You cant' get a cuppa on a long flight unless the cart comes by, pilot announces you can now walk around the plane, steward, why you are walking, gee, I have a problem with DVT and flying, what's a DVT, sit down. Everyone has packed over sized luggage and I have no room for my small one in the overhead, to bad, sit down. I have a "problem" and can't get in the loo, no you cannot use first class.

actually I was thinking of this sort of incident https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Airtours_Flight_28M
quote:

a plane bursting into flames on the runway

quote:

How your point is based on a woman, a mother, not knowing how to behave in crisis situation
is you being a huge sexist, but who will you say is being one now for calling you out?

my point is based on mother who already has her arms full of infant not being able to act in the best interests of others.

As I say Im amazed that strollers are even allowed on the plane - they arent here you either pass it over with your hold luggage or you can push it out onto the apron where it is taken off you before you board and placed in the hold

quote:

would say "hit me, bring it on" was the wrong response from the air steward

the passenger ( a total jerk) was already looking for a fight - but yes he could have been dealt with better which should have been by removing from the flight by security

quote:

If the woman holding the baby was experiencing violence by the crew member,

which we really dont know from the video, my understanding is (and I may be wrong ) that she was refused permission to have the stroller refused to give it up and had it forcibly removed from her
Where was she going to put this stroller?

unless the layout of aircraft in the US is radically different to here - which I doubt - any where she put it it would have prevented rapid evacuation of the plane should that have become necessary

here is another version of the event (it wouldnt copy so I saved it as a jpeg)

Re: The second row guy:

From my experience strollers are not allowed on the plane here either, the employee standing at the entrance to the plane takes all oversized luggage and strollers that parents used to wheel their kids up to the boarding entrance and they go in the hold. I'm wondering where that person was. I can't help but enjoy a man who sticks up for a crying woman with two babies, considering no one gives much of a rats behind about their fellow man anymore. Knowing myself, I could have done the same thing as him, out of order Mary, okay but I still liked it! If you don't know handle a stressed out mother with two babies, find another job. The passenger who wrote the article, I know him too, jerks who got places to go and people to see with a life that is more important than anyone else's.

from the version of events I posted it seems that support for the hysterical woman soon waned!

as for "second row guy" I still say he was a jerk!

if "hysterical woman" had been allowed her TWO strollers on board I wonder how second row guy would have felt about having his safety severly impaired, or not beimng able to get to the john, or the stewardess not being able to bring the drinks trolley around - my guess that "second row guy" would have been annoyed about all of that - he strikes me as being recreationally annoyed
