Re: Fire in tower block in London
~I have seen reports of the saving being anywhere between £5000 and 'less than £7000' which is a pittance on a £2.3 million refurb contract.
As I said previously there is talk that the use of this cladding was illegal under existing law which would mean criminal charges for the council, the architect and the supplier

Re: Fire in tower block in London
In New Mexico, everything is stucco, which is not only fire proof, but that is why it has been so popular here for thousands of years.

Re: Fire in tower block in London
and how well does stucco hold up to over 40 inches of rain per year?
how well do they withstand a fire when filled with a modern furnishing?
quote: but that is why it has been so popular here for thousands of years.
"thousands of years"? (hardly)
this is over 4500 years old
and this is closer to 6000years old
few of the stucco building of America predate 1000 AD

There are many kinds of stucco, but adobe has straw mixed in that makes it last even with the summer New Mexico monsoons.
I did not say that there were any stucco buildings over 1000 years old, but that they have been building with stucco in New Mexico for over 2000 years. The oldest stucco adobe I know of that is still lived in is only around 800 years old.
But fire does not harm adobe, and instead makes it more water resistant.

Re: Fire in tower block in London
This just in.
the London fire service attended a fire in a refrigerator in at flat at Grenfall tower declaring the fire extinguished they were just packing away their equipment when they whole block went up.
Apparently they were un aware of either the flammable nature of the cladding or the fact that the fire had spread to the cladding

Re: Fire in tower block in London
Everyone involved in cutting costs by putting this cladding on the building...should be doing a very long time in jail.
There is no excuse for cutting costs when lives are involved.

Looks like a series of cover ups in the review of this appalling mess....
