Re: Weird mobile homes:

I considered the small house craze as crazy at one time. Can basically live in a RV if so choose so this is not exactly a 'New' idea.

Have friends and some family considering the small house now and is not completely out of the picture for us either yet health and age considerations could limit the aspects.

In MO a 'Portable' or Mobile house/home/residence is considered personal property for taxes as well a trailer, IE automotive needing title and appropriate license(annually renewed or penalty) if not tied down to a fixed point. Anything with wheels/tires and as noted not affixed to a mounting pad/position, but even tied down still requires title and PP taxes paid.

Skid sheds or portable buildings too large to routinely move are treated just as PP taxable not Real Estate taxed.

I could see moving to a two room semi-fixed temporary structure on owned ground in a future condition just to minimize belongings and costs to maintain or power.

The bicycle and shopping cart almost make me convulse from thinking about being inside them. emoticon

I like room to move around and enjoy my treasures and critters.

I don't understand how people can live like this by their own choice. Being forced...yes humans can survive but is it idealic?

Does it need be 'Idealic'? There are yet smaller 'Homes' in the Phiilipines, Argentina, Brazil, all parts of Africa and other places.

If it's something i bought and paid more (own). It needs to meet my ideals.

Maybe someone needs to let the people in the Philipines, Argentina, Brazil, and parts of Africa know they will have a one any only opportunity to get a bigger house and they should not miss their opportunity. They can simply get a higher paying job and work towards their goals. emoticon

I could make it in a smaller house..but i don't choose to is the part you don't grasp. emoticon

There are a couple points to remember about "Tiny Homes", ( I watch the show about them being made all the time).

First of all, most homes are largely an illusion, for show. The reality is that you really can not use more than 1 room at a time, so we really do not need large homes.

Second is that with a tiny home, the need for materials is so much less, that you can then use the finest of materials.

Tiny homes are not like an RV because they are not intended to be that easy to move, and don't use the cheapest and lightest materials. instead, they are the highest of quality.

I watched these shows a few times, for the money involved, the special permits required to move the assemblage after built, the specialized internals as the composting toilet etc. it would be better off buying a larger fifth wheel RV, can put them in or out of RV parks regularly, they have amenities that most public sanitation inspectors agree to and can be staged anywhere one wishes to with readily available repair/replacement components at 80% the cost of one of these "Tiny Homes".

100% designed and built toward minimization and function, the RV.

The idea of a tiny home is not really to be mobile, but to only allow for that being possible.
It is not intended for temporary living as much as it is an experiment in trying to see what you can do without.
They are also an interest in those who hate bureaucracy, since they require no permits, inspections, zoning, or building codes.

Re: Weird mobile homes:

Problem is Rigs, they do require residency permits in many states, have to pass basic sanitation inspections and must pass electrical codes just as RV's, temporary cabins, skid built living structures.

Here in MO 75% of the counties have passed basic sanitation requirements. You have a shower or a sink and must have either a transportable storage container for the waste or deposition tank/septic treatment system. Composting toilets do not fly unless in a separate structure where they have to be vented externally and secured to prevent waste discharges to the environment without septic controls.

Electrical system rules UNLESS built for off-grid use of generator or low voltage will not be allowed to be connected to the electrical system unless inspected by that service, unless a registered manufactured RV that was built to prescribed codes connected by temporary cord.

The day of the free for all build what you want and live as you want is dwindling away.
