Trump "jokes" that Pence wants to hang gays?

Trump "jokes" that Pence wants to hang gays?

The alleged comments, originally reported by The New Yorker, highlight fears many LGBTQ advocates have about Vice President Mike Pence.

https://www.nbcnews.com/feature/nbc-out/trump-reportedly-jokes-about-mike-pence-wanting-hang-gays-n811086

[Joke or no joke if true it's certainly an exercise in bad taste. As it is the LGBTQ community have ample evidence of what the Vice-President thinks of them and they consider him a threat. Its startling to think what kind of people Trump and Pence are and the nature of modern American Conservatism that put them in power. They are a threat to the country as a whole. What do you think?]

Given that a number of GOP politicians (Roy Moore anyone) have made similar statements (and they weren't joking when they said it), all this does is confirm what we already know about Pence (and Trump).

' Pence’s beliefs have shifted at least twice—from his family’s Catholicism to an idiosyncratic evangelical Christianity, and from that to a more hardened and ideological version of the same. If, as he insists, faith does indeed order his life, why did he stop being so open about it? Why strip the evangelizing from his evangelicalism?
Good luck getting Pence to comment on that."

Is it because "hardened and ideological of an idiosyncratic evangelical Christianity" is this:

"Prophetic author Ben Peters offered a powerful new word from the Lord on Monday to readers of Elijah List, saying the seven mountains (SO INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM IN AMERICA ) will be conquered in America.
"This is what I hear the Father saying: 'Don't miss out! You have asked for help in times of need, but I want to do much more for you than just meet your need,'" he wrote. "'I want to pour out My Spirit upon you and give you a life of great victory. I desire you to enjoy wonderful blessings of an anointed, fruitful and world-changing life. I want to use you to bring about a major shaking to change your world.
'Get ready! I will not tarry any longer. I will pour out the passion of My heart into every willing heart, and you will no longer worry about little things that have occupied your heart and mind. Embrace what I am doing. I will show mercy and favor to all who seek first My kingdom and My righteousness. You will experience the joys of the harvest and the spoils of victory. Fear not the enemy nor the warfare. This is My battle! I cannot lose.'"
Peters said God "recently downloaded a revelation and passion" concerning the end-times harvest that has him very excited. He said there is no more powerful strategy for bringing it about than by "conquering and ruling" from the following seven mountains of influence in society:
Religion
Family
Education
Government
Arts and Entertainment
Media and Communication
Business and Finance

https://www.charismanews.com/politics/issues/64180-prophecy-the-7-mountains-will-be-conquered...

The influence of this is extremism is very wide spread ... such that even an altar boy, from a big Irish Catholic family of Democrats in central Indiana, who attended parochial schools, and idolizing another liberal president: JFK. has been conquered have been "conquered" .

"He, (Pence) coined his most durable slogan, describing himself as “Christian, conservative, Republican—in that order.” so how far down that list of his priorities is his being an American ?
Clearly he answers to a high power than the US Constitution.

Sep 1, 2011 - Here are five facts about Dominionism to help you decide for yourself: ... in an anti-gay bill in Uganda and in the home-schooling movement,

... so experience has taught me several things:
First is that people easily dismiss them as just few with little real influence.

Well, on the surface of that appears true, but give the Devil his due, in that they plan on that and deception. They operate covertly, in name of Jesus, to influence other Christians who they do not respect until they embrace the whole program.

Then as their only authority is the Bible, showing that they not really all that can only be done by quoting it.

So see: http://www.biblestudytools.com/topical-verses/bible-verses-about-false-teachers/ for full list, but this, the word of JC himself sum them up:
Matthew 7:15-20 best.

"15 “Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves.
16 By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?
17 Likewise, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.
18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit.
19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.
20 Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them."

So , Christian or not, just accepting that Jesus was being smart about the subversion of his message, no matter which, one should ask what are to the "fruits" of their real world efforts and growing influence.

Nothing to do with this thread but....

Subject: Three New York surgeons.

"Three New York surgeons were playing golf together and discussing surgeries they had performed.

One of them said, 'I'm the best surgeon in the state. In my favourite case, a concert pianist lost seven fingers in an accident; I re-attached them, and 8 months later he performed a private concert for the Queen of England.'

The second surgeon said, 'That's nothing. A young man lost an arm and both legs in an accident; I reattached them, and 2 years later he won a Gold Medal in track and field events in the Olympics.'

The third surgeon said, 'You guys are amateurs. Several years ago a man was high on cocaine and marijuana and he rode a horse head-on into a train, travelling 80 miles an hour. All I had left to work with was the man's blonde hair and the horse's ass. I was able to put them together and now he's president of the USA!'"

Back on topic - when Trump was asked flat out if, in light or Roy Moore's comments, he thought that gay sex should be illegal, he refused to answer. Said he was meeting with Moore next week and "would get back to us".

While we're waiting for a response from Trump you can amuse yourself with some light reading

Read Mike Pence’s article advising employers never to hire gay people

Earlier this week, The New Yorker published a damning profile on Mike Pence in which Trump “jokingly” said Pence wants to “hang all the gays.” That inspired readers to go dig in the Internet’s dirt in search of Pence’s other past offenses towards the LGBTQ community — not that you have to dig too deep.

As the head of the Indiana Policy Review in the 1990s, Pence published numerous articles urging employers not to hire gay people, compulsively churning out copy like this:

“Homosexuals are not as a group able-bodied. They are known to carry extremely high rates of disease brought on because of the nature of their sexual practices and the promiscuity which is a hallmark of their lifestyle.”

In that article — which you can read here — he also suggests homosexuality is a “pathological condition.”

In Pence’s ideal world, there would be zero protections for the LGBTQ community, a point he made clear by complaining about the passage of the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Bill.

As we reported last year, he groused when the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes bill was signed into law in 2009.

Pence didn’t cite legal objections, either. Instead, he complained that it advanced a “radical social agenda” and would have “a chilling effect on religious expression, from the pulpits, in our temples, in our mosques and in our churches.”

Of course, in Congress Pence voted against federal workplace protections. What was unique was his reasoning, which was that ENDA would discriminate against Christians. To comply with the law, Pence claimed, “the employer has to ban employees from having a Bible at the workplace for their break time, or displaying Bible verses.” Foreshadowing the Indiana religious liberty law, he went on: “We must stand for the right of every American to practice their faith according to the dictates of their conscience, whether it be in the public square or in the workplace.”

And since we're talking about Pence, don't forget that his defining accomplishment in Indiana was to enable a massive HIV outbreak.

Of course the White House is trying to rewrite history. Doesn't work very well since the internet is forever.
