I'm not all that familiar with Spike Milligan, so after watching that clip, I did a little reading and found it interesting that he performed with Peter Sellers. I've recently watched some rather amusing pieces that Peter had done, one of which having to do with the reading of Beatles songs in various styles ... now, I see that there is a clip from a comedy show that featured Spike, Peter, and Ringo, silly stuff.

Milligan never quite forgave Britain for leaving him stateless.

He was quite mad* his madness leavened with flashes of genius

depression, bipolar disease and pychosis

Spike had a lot of respect for the Irish. Nothing politically incorrect about this little jab.

and Irish born father entitled Milligan to an Irish passport and prevented him from being stateless.

However he spent very little time in Ireland

It's an odd thing about laugh tracks, I don't know exactly what, but it's kind of odd to me. I think Norman Lear may have been one of the first to film in front of live audiences.

This may have been shared here before, but in defense of one example of Monty Python, I think this may be considered one of their "splashes of genius" ...
