They will get them no matter what the officials attempt to dissuade.

Our military ships weapons the same way, open book for theft even harder to track out.

21 hours ago - New York (CNN) Despite enduring its deadliest terror attack since 9/11, New York City is on pace to record its lowest murder total in decades. The homicide drop mirrors an across-the-board reduction in major crimes over 2016, statistics released by the police department show. There have been 284 ...

So explain that, too, please.

Yet a couple dozen other cities per capita beat Chicago in murder/crime that pretty much go ignored, people love to pick on Chicago.

It's sorta pathetic for these losers in DC to single out Chicago again and again! I've lived here most of my life; city and suburbs and I've yet to see anything the way it's portrayed by Trump! No city is immune to one or 2 bad areas that isn't getting the support to alleviate the drug problem and violence! The mayor hired a new Police Superintendent that has an outreach program and it's quelled some of these problems! To get back at Obama, they'll keep invoking the place! A-holes! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Al Capone and prohibition? just guessing. i remember when my aunt moved there in the 60's my grandmother refused to visit, for fear she'd catch a bullet turning the corner.

I remember when New York City wasn't safe, oh wait it's still not safe.

You just have to be careful and use common sense everywhere now.

Really becomes funny that Chicago blames the availability of firearms SALES just outside that 'Fair' city as the cause of their Firearms problems. Would like to see the actual firearms lists as to point of origin of sales as to those received after criminal captures with weapons. That never ever seems to be displayed, just the innuendos and unfounded, unsubstantiated statements from the bureaucrats.

Yet I keep reading multi lists that have one to two dozen cities per capita that are more violent and have a higher murder rate than Chicago. What is it about Chicago, never got an answer.

Trying to undermine Obama's legacy is a full time job for "right-wingers!" He's totally responsible for all "ills" in the world; esp. Chicago being his hometown right? They just never stop on FNC; totally embarrassing to listen to these fools setting up a narrative to go back to again and again until they're successful!

One of their Jihads was against "gay marriage" in '04! We see how it accelerated the acceptance by overplaying their hand! Will they never learn? Their successes are short-lived thru self-inflicted wounds! Case in point is in the West Wing; well half the time anyway! emoticon emoticon emoticon

hmmmm is right, that's old data since we've had 255 mass shootings since Trump came into office. Trump should be blamed for all those deaths.

PER Capita is one thing TOTALS are another. Yes Chicago has Millions to establish a lower PERCENTAGE Per Capita yet the major metro is the extreme when it comes to totals.

"PER Capita is one thing TOTALS are another."

Cooter are you now adding factual falsehoods in defense of you original contention that others have questioned so successfully ?

"PER Capita is one thing TOTALS are another"

How so ?
Everyone who uses the term "per capita" should understand that the total is alway just a mathematical function of the per capita rate X the population of any given area.

So if there is more per capita violence then the real total of violence that one faces is only apparently relative, because is actually, factually, higher, when viewed from the individual's point of view, wherever there is the more per-capita violence.

That's the truth and it is not highest in Chicago as you Trump claim, is it, really ?

Happy New Year.

Countdown of the top 30 cities in the U.S. with the highest murder rates – 2017

Our crime research reveals the 30 cities in America with the highest number of murders per 1,000 residents. Murder is the willful (non-negligent) killing of one human being by another. We limited our research to cities with 25,000 or more people. Data used for this research are 1) the number of murders reported to the FBI to have occurred in each city, and 2) the population of each city.

In fact Chicago IL is not even in
the countdown for the Top 30 Murder Capitals of America 2017 at all.

Some of those places are surprising to see. It's hard to understand what is happening really. Places such as Myrtle Beach, SC; Baton Rouge, LA; Salinas, CA ... I didn't expect it.

"A rash of gun violence in Baton Rouge overnight Friday left four people dead and investigators searching for answers during the final days of 2017, already the deadliest year ever recorded for East Baton Rouge Parish."

"East Baton Rouge Parish broke its record for the number of homicides in one year earlier this month when the total reached 97."

I found one on the list where my brother bought a home, Desert Hot Springs, CA., he sold his home awhile before the big crash and bought in this neighborhood that only has a population of 26k, it had become run down and was being built up with new homes, schools, malls, etc. He thought it was going to go up market. All construction stopped he he found himself dealing with much crime, including the cartel being there. By the third time I visited him, I stayed in a hotel, till he finally took a huge loss and went back to Palm Desert.

Rates will not match totals. Chitcago has managed the greater NUMBER of murders for the US, not by percentage by TOTAL VOLUME. Numero UNO and not getting better.

St. Louis which DID make the top 30 in PERCENTAGE or PER CAPITA(of a decreasing populations number) only had 205 last year where Chitcago had well over 600.
