Justice Texas style.
I'm pleased to say that the jury were smarter than the judge even though that is a worry.
Texas judge interrupts jury deliberations after God tells him defendant is not guilty.
A Texas state district judge interrupted a jury’s deliberations in a child sex trafficking case because he says God told him to intervene.
Judge Jack Robinson‘s intervention was an attempt to sway the jury to bring back a not guilty verdict, according to the Statesman. He later reportedly apologized for the interruption, saying, “when God tells me I gotta do something, I gotta do it.”
The jury however didn’t heed the judges plea divine plea and found Gloria Romero-Perez guilty of “continuous trafficking of a person” and sentenced her to 25 years in prison.

There are those who say that Texas style justice is an oxymoran.

Re: Justice Texas style.
I thought Justice Texas style was in Smith County. Apparently a jury there once sentence a guy to 16 years for stealing a candy bar.

Re: Justice Texas style.
You dont need any trial experience to be a judge in America and federal judges once appointed are in post for life.
Take a look at some of the moonbats Trump proposed as federal judges recently - at least two had never seen the inside of a court room!
One of President Trump’s federal judge nominees has withdrawn after he was unable to answer basic questions during his confirmation hearing about the courtroom process, showed little familiarity with federal trial rules and acknowledged that he had never prosecuted or defended a case.
have a google of Jeff Mateer and Brett Talley!

Re: Justice Texas style.
Sorry GoHawk but on this occasion Yobbo is spot on the money - what sort of judicial justice can you expect in a court room presided over by some one with zero experience?
Trump nominee (and Im not picking on Trump because I have no doubt that the others were no better) Brett Talley, one time ghost hunter and writer of ghost stories NEVER presented a case in court!
What qualified him to be a judge?
Another nominee Jeff Mateer is on record as saying that transgender people are part of 'satan's plan' and is an advocate of aversion therapy for homosexuality. He has also publicized his belief that the separation of church and state is a 'myth'.
could any non binary/ homosexual/non Christian be sure of a fair trial in his court?
Matthew Petersen, couldnt answer basic questions about court procedure (had no idea what a motion in limine is) and then excused himself by saying that his background was not in litigation!!
luckily (because of the publicity) the three above withdrew - but they could so easily have been made a judge for life in the federal court trying people and depriving them of their liberty

Re: Justice Texas style.
i have a friend who's a judge in Wyoming , she a part time judge because her small community rarely needs a judge. She's a stay at home mother most of the time. i know people roll their eyes, but places that are rural for the most part do things differently, and people make fun of them being the wild west.
regardless, as long as they don't do crazy things you never hear about them and they do a good job.
Not sure about the judge in the story.
Yobbo, how do they handle remote area in Kiwi land? do they make them go to the big city for justice?
