[One of the last of the great movie stars of the past reaches his 100th birthday. He certainly had an fascinating life. I read one of his book "The ragman's son" I think it was called. Seems he was very popular with the ladies. Invited over for dinner Joan Crawford apparently opened the door wearing only nylons and high heels. I've seen a few of his movies my favorite being "The arrangement" about a man in a deep depression.]

Re: Kirk Douglas turns 100:
Loved him in the old westerns, many with John Wayne, Burt Lancaster and other greats.

Re: Kirk Douglas turns 100:
May favorites is where he played the good guy opposite Burt Lancaster as the evil general, in "Seven Days in May".
But the strongest reaction I had was from "Ace in the Hole", a movie where he played a reporter who takes advantage of a personal tragedy of a person trapped in a cave, to make a huge media circus to bootstrap his media career. With tragic results. Very compelling movie.

My favorite is "Out of the Past," it was only his second movie and I like the 40's early 50's film noir.
