Re: How long will it be before we have a woman President?
I think a positive indication is that so many women are going to run in Nov. what I hope is that when they lose they keep at it and don't get discouraged and if you make it be prepared for a fight to stay and some very nasty people.

My point is that qualifications are more important then gender. A qualified female Pres. would be great but there have been plenty of corrupt female leaders in the world. Character is more important than gender as far as I'm concerned. Would you vote for Sarah Palin (a veritable female Donald Trump) just because she was a woman?

Are you asking me that about Sarah Palin, Cro? That doesn't seem plausible, since I said the woman needed to be qualified. I didn't think I needed to add that she shoudn't be a malevolent idiot, or even that she shouldn't be a Republican.

Qualifications are more important than gender but women in general appear to be more qualified than men for public office. They more often seem to be interested in helping other people rather than themselves. And less interested in things like wars and messing around with guns.
We've had a lot of experience with "qualified" men in public office in this country that hasn't worked out all that well. It's time for women to participate more in politics preferably at the highest levels.

Philer,
the American economy is predicated on being involved in a state of perpetual war or series of wars.
One great hope for the world is for this to stop and I agree that having many more women politicians in America will help get to this situation .
