Trump mocks reporter during press conference

Typical of the GOP's open contempt for women!

President Donald Trump mocked a reporter and said she "never" thinks when she was called on during a press conference on Monday.

"She's shocked that I picked her. She's like in a state of shock," Trump said of ABC's Cecelia Vega.

As Vega composed herself she apologetically said, "I'm not thinking Mr. President."

Trump then said, "That's OK. I know you're not thinking. You never do. Now, go ahead. Go ahead."

Vega seemed bewildered by this comment and said "I'm sorry?"

After the awkward exchange, Vega began to ask the president whether it was fair to contend he has limited the scope of the FBI investigation into sexual assault allegations against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh.

Three women have accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct, and the White House has agreed to allow an FBI investigation into two of the allegations prior to a confirmation vote on the Senate floor.

Trump would not answer Vega's question at first, and also refused a question from another female reporter, Kaitlin Collins of CNN, on the subject.

Later on in the press conference, however, the president addressed the Kavanaugh allegations. Trump at one point said he'd be open to having the FBI question the third accuser, Julie Swetnick, but also questioned her credibility.

"The FBI should do what they have to do to get to the answer," the president said. "I want it to be comprehensive."

He said it "wouldn't bother me at all" if the FBI questions Swetnick, while also adding she has "very little credibility."

I think the take away is what can a woman say back to a man like that and not just feed his sexism ?

It is a lot like how he hovered over Sec. Clinton, abused her personal space during their debate and she said , understanding his game, rather than doing what any man could/would do and confront him about his rude actions, she said nothing, because his whole point was trying to make her look shrill and unladylike for doing what any man not only could, but would be expected to do, or accept been as weak because they let a bully bully him, let a lesser man make overt dominance displays at them.

So is the take away of the take away that woman are judged unfairly for not meekly accepting ignorant simian male dominance displays when they directed at her ?

That is why Hillary did the right thing, what made the news and the viral videos, even poor ole Kellyanne said persons were more interested in that than anything. Your question, the time and place when it occurs is how your reaction should be. If I was in a public place and not in a presidential debate on tv, I would have been rude back but the thing about being rude, is you have to be clever rude which requires quick thinking or you look like an idiot as well.

Trump has no class at all. And sadly there are way too many people who think that's ok, even a good thing, because "he's different" or "he tells it like it is" The standard for "presidential" has sunk so low that there no longer is a standard. To the deplorables anything Trump does is justified. He could take his pants down and crap on the Resolute desk and the cons would be like what's the big deal, everybody goes the bathroom.

If you miss the days when a president was held to a certain standard I have good news and bad news. The good news is the day will come when the president is held to a high standard, a very high standard. The bad news is it will happen when we have a Democrat in the White House. The deplorables who are constantly giving Trump a "he's different" pass will hold the next Democratic president to an extremely high standard.

One important factor behind much of the support for Trump is something that isn't often discussed. It's the fact that he presented himself as pro-life. To understand most of those who support him no matter what he says or does you have to understand that their priority is having a pro-life president in the White House or at least one who claims to be pro-life.

Pro-lifers don't like liberal politicians and believe virtually anything negative said about them because their concept of them is that they are truly evil persons. In contrast those who are pro-life or claim to be can do no wrong in their eyes. And even if they do
wrong they are still considered better than those evil liberal "anti-life" politicians.

The pro-life movement may not be all that conservativism is about but it's a very big part of it. It helps to explain the tremendous political dichotomy in this country and the level of animosity in modern politics.

I disagree it is a "big part of it" it is down the list, there are over a dozen issues that come before, it's just talked a lot about. Personal issues will always cause most animosity however they are what we hold dear and in actuality, have little to do with politics.

It's not down the list with Trump's supporters, or at least, his most ardent supporters. The ones who see no problem with anything Trump has said or done. The same ones who really don't like liberals who would have liked to see Hillary prosecuted.

It's a core issue with them in deciding who to vote for. If they know some candidate is pro-choice they are prejudiced against that candidate and willing to believe just about anything negative about them.
