A white South Carolina woman who was nicknamed “Pool Patrol Paula” has pleaded guilty to the assault of a black teen who she hit and forced to leave a community swimming pool.

Stephanie Sebby-Strempel, 38, pleaded guilty Monday to assault and battery in the June incident, according to the Associated Press.

The teen told officials that he and his friends were at a community pool in the Summerville area when Stempel began blurting racial slurs and said that he and his friends “didn’t belong.”

The incident, which was captured on video, shows Strempel swinging her arms towards the boy as she yells “Get out! Get out.” She can also be heard making threats to call 911 on the teens as she chases them toward the pool exit.

When police became involved, not only resisted arrest, she pushed one detective into a wall and bit another on the arm, hard enough to break skin, authorities have said.

Stempel was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine.

{A slap on the wrist!}

Numerous viral videos on social media have captured white people calling police on black people who weren’t breaking the law, including “Permit Patty,” who antagonized a child for selling bottles of water on the streets of San Francisco — and “BBQ Becky,” who became upset when a group held a barbecue in a California park.

All the media stories about "evil" white women causing trouble for black people is an example of mass media propaganda. Why are these relatively minor stories so deserving of national media attention? In reality they don't deserve the attention they receive. They are minor news stories at best. Unfortunately, they just happen to fall into the category of the kind of racially charged story the mass media likes to cover about terrible white women being mean to black people.

There are major violent crimes that don't receive such mass media attention.

Because Trump and the alt-right have made this sort of thing "routine" that's why. Denying or attempting do deny citizens their civil rights as guaranteed by the Constitution isa major crime, Philer. Fortunately there are more of us who realize this and continue to fight against it rather than trying to poo-poo it!

I'm not trying to claim that it isn't important enough to be dealt with by local law enforcement but how is it important enough to be talked about in the national media? And what exactly is that doing to reduce the racism and racial tension in this country? It's probably doing more to increase the racial antagonism.

As I've mentioned racism is a common phenomenon that is not at all limited to white people and certainly not to white women. Constantly talking about white racism as if it was one of this country's great evils is propaganda that does little to remove racism from this society. It could actually be increasing the amount of it by promoting the idea that racism is only a white peoples' problem.

A violation of the civil rights of a citizen of the US is EVERYONE'S BUSINESS! Such crimes should be exposed for what they are and not covered up, ignored, or belittled! Such exposure is a duty of the media!.

Rights belong to all of us without regard to ethnicity, skin color, gender, nationality, or religion! When these rights are violated it should be publicized!

excuse me but that's pure BS. this is about "white" women who think they can call the cops on black people, for doing everyday activities.

the reason this gained national attention, was because on social media it caused a lot of people to freak out.

how is that manufactured by mass media, they only report what people are reacting to. If nobody cares, they don't report it. They report what is relevant.

you should be shocked that a woman verbally and physically attacking a 15-year-old who had been invited to the pool by a friend. Especially when you found out that the boy was black and the women was white and yelling racial profanities at a child in a public area.

It's not socially acceptable, and people are trying to make it so that people are shamed on social media and other media outlets, so that folks know this is not acceptable behavior.

Most people can't do anything about someone being a criminal, because they cannot control them. However, when someone acts out like this in public, it is generally something that can be brought to the attention of many people, and will lead to her being socially shamed.

Is it? For what purpose? It is the job of the police and other legal authorities to deal with the violation of a person's civil rights, not the mass media, especially when dealing with it in the media becomes a form of propaganda which may make the problem worse.

When someone's civil rights have been violated the police can be called in. Also people can file lawsuits as some people have done. It's not necessary for the mass media to keep covering these stories and perhaps promoting more of the same kind of behaviour as well as more racial tension. It's doing precious little to solve the problem of racism in this country.

Not if it just going to add to the problem rather than solve it. If laws are broken and civil rights violated people can be arrested, charged and convicted in court. They can also be sued.

That is the proper way to deal with such things and the best way to punish people for such behaviour, not stirring up even more conflict in the mass media.
