the only dangers with insulin is taking too much - if you are in the habit of eating 'cake, pie and candy' that would seem unlikely!

The persons I speak of go into high blood sugar reaction, they use insulin to counter so they CAN eat as they wish not so much to control their disease. It is almost to a point of ridiculous as to how much they inject themselves with.

Insulin products (such as Lantus) are often insanely expensive in the US but its their money they can spend it as they like and if they like to spend in on massive amounts of insulin so what?

There are patients who do that but not the majority and they end up with serious illness or death. I had a patient, and heavily insured and an alcoholic had bypass surgery in his mid 50's, a kidney transplant at 60 and dead at 63.

Precisely the same danger in using heroin. Taking too much.

Friend's wife is one of the three, she has placed herself into almost comatose state numerous times over compensating with the insulin, my Cousin's husband in IL died from such a condition. His love was Sweet tea and Lemonade which hit him two ways with fruit juice AND sugar, all the while eating such as PLAIN Rhubarb pie which is 1 pound of stalks to 5 pounds sugar to make edible.

You can scoff off the abusive with insulin, one can only hope you do not follow their poor choice footsteps.

Insulin is injected by the diabetic to replace the natural insulin the body of a diabetic can no longer make

take too much and you die fast take too little and you die slow - its a tightrope.

Unless your argument is that heroin addicts take heroin to replace a deficiency in natural endorphins your statement is asinine

True.

People don't take heroin because they don't get any benefit out of it. They use it to fight depression and for the rush as well as just to counteract withdrawal symptoms. So, just like insulin, it serves useful purposes.

And the danger of taking it is precisely the same as the danger of taking too much insulin. You overdose on the drug and may not survive.

Taking too little insulin doesn't result in the insulin killing anyone.

You fail to administer correct proportions of insulin when needed and end up in a diabetic coma, you can die.

Where in the world did you get that? There is to much and to little and some hard to treat insulin dependent persons are all over the map. It is after all the 5th leading cause of death in this country
