Re: "A stunning verdict" according to Norah O'Donnell
The only time I can form a solid opinion which may or may not be biased, is when it is on tv, not what I read or what the news presents, that surely is biased. I've never been in a courtroom for a criminal case, that would be the only two ways I can think of to make any kind of valid opinion that I could consider "realistic."

If you haven't read it you should read Vincent Bugliosi's book, "Outrage" about the trial of O. J. Simpson. He talks at length about how the mostly black jury was biased in favor of Simpson and how the black women on that jury hated Marcia Clark, the white female prosecutor.
It's not difficult to make valid judgments about jury trials based on just single cases without having to attend the trials. Then when you see the same sort of bias favoring men being displayed over and over again along with disdain for both female defendants and victims that just reinforces already valid views about the ineptness of our jury system.
There is also a long history of white juries not caring about black victims. Jurors tend to be biased against just about everybody with the exception of white men. And of course even then with the right jury they may not care that much about white male victims. It always depends on who is on the jury.

I see that as an extremely biased statement, dependant on many factors.
Not biased, just realistic based on what I've observed in courts.
How many times have you been in court in a major murder trial?

Not necessary to actually attend trials to see what happens. There have been plenty of trials shown on TV. Also plenty of written accounts of them. Also you can tell a lot about a trial by just knowing a few things about them if you know what to look for.
For example, what else do I need to know about the trial of Debra Milke other than the fact that the only "strong" evidence against her was one police officer claiming she confessed to him and the fact that a dumb, biased jury found her guilty? Of course I also know that she was freed from death row in Arizona after spending 20 years incarcerated after it turned out the cop was dirty.
That case all by itself shows how inadequate and flawed our jury system is.

Maybe the black woman and the rest of the jurors shouldn't have believed the cop. Lot of people screw an innocent person, it takes more than one. Az. to the south is not a place I'd want to be accused of a crime!

It's very scary to think that if you're a woman and some male cop simply claims you confessed to him that can be enough for a jury to send you to death row!

Lets not gender discriminate that cop could be a woman as well, if you look at some of the horror of cops in recent history, there are women involved, white women, black women, Hispanic women. There are women who place no value on sisterhood. I have met them, I have an ex sister-in-law like it, hated women, we did worse than not well.

I don't disagree. One reason why the jury system works so poorly in regard to female defendants as well as female victims is the lack of respect among women for other women.
