The US says it is stepping aside for an imminent Turkish operation against Kurdish-led forces within Syria that have until now been a key US ally.
Kurdish militias played a major role in defeating the Islamic State (IS) group, but Turkey regards them as terrorists.
The US - which has hundreds of troops in north-eastern Syria - has begun to withdraw them from a border area where Turkey seeks to set up a "safe zone".
Syria's main Kurdish-led group called the US move a "stab in the back".
Re: Trump abandons the Kurds. Could part of the problem be that since Trump is not a Christian he doesn't identify with the largely Christian Kurds stuck in the middle of a Muslim region of the world and has no loyalty to them as a fellow Christian?
Re: Trump abandons the Kurds. Trump On Turkey: ‘I Have A Little Conflict Of Interest ... It’s Called Trump Towers’
The president, in his own words in 2015, zeroes in on a problem linked to his order to abandon Kurdish allies to a Turkish assault in Syria.

The fate of this is what matters to the POTUS.
Trump Towers Istanbul are two conjoined towers in Şişli, Istanbul, Turkey. One of the towers is an office tower, and the other a residential tower, consisting of over 200 residences. The complex also holds a shopping mall with some 80 shops and a multiplex cinema. They are the first Trump Towers built in Europe. Wikipedia
(How telling is the fact that the building is crooked, too ?)
Re: Trump abandons the Kurds. "Reliable ally" he is just stupid. I had no idea whether the Kurds fought in WW2 or Normandy. What I did know in the late 30's close to 100,000 were slaughtered fighting the Ottomans, I also knew it continued till after the war and hasn't stopped. I also knew the Kurds didn't have a country, how do you have a govt., a military without a country? Why cannot this man take 10 minutes to read history before he opens his gob is an unknown, other than it is who he is and he's ignorant.

The majority of Kurds are Islamic, 75% being Sunni, 15% being Shia, there are three other faiths before those that are Christian. The problem is similar to those in Palestine or Sephardic Jews, no country wants to claim them so they wander. Kurds are originally Iranian.
