it does NOT However 'guarantee access' to anything besides what is accepted by the insurer as 'appropriate'

I think if you try reading my last post again you will see that I didnt say that it DOES guarantee anything only that it SHOULD.

As I have written here recently the function of an health insurance company is not to provide you with health care it is to provide a profit for its stock holders to which ends it will maximise income (premiums) and minimise expenses (health care).

One of the greater problems with our NHS is the gulf between providing what people want and what people need - if they spent less on providing what people want (such as breast enlargements to perfectly normal sized women who just happen to aspire to a career in porn) and more on what people need it would be a much better service (unless you want thrivolous proceedures performed)

As with my many currently, they will not guarantee anything but wording on paper. My own insurance was to cover the cost of my arthroplasty of 74%(Pre-Approved in writing), it has now met 20% and the disputes continue. The insurer has called me twice in a week to confirm previous exams by this Doctor, a call they also made TO that office and are continually declining as 'there were other options available'. To which they will not elaborate nor argue or present, just a blanket statement. So we continue down a narrow winding path of red tape.

When I went from working in the hospital to a clinic I was so angry about issues with insurance companies, I became an advocate for many of my patients who generally were older and didn't have the strength to fight their insurance company, I won some, I lost some and I wish you good luck! Isn't it what Mary touched on insurance is a bet and they are out for profit, it is no different than car, home, or life insurance, those bits you are sure that are covered turns out are not or you get funky excuses, as "there are/were other options available," that is a standard line, I've read/heard a thousand times.

Exactly and with that insured doe NOT automatically make better health care, it does not make it 'Affordable' nor does it work to the patients advantage have benefitted from the early days of ACA coverage will not be so forth coming in the next ten years as dollars tighten in the insurers coffers and policies lag behind or the calculations to get some form of car if any get ever more tweaked or corrupt or confusing.

Had the Democrats come up with a REAL Affordable CARE plan I could have gone along with it, forcing insurance just to do so is far from that. All this was, was a planned pyramid scheme to tap those that had low risk health to feed the high risk health, never anything more and so badly written it became the laughing stock of all who really read it.

Planned penalties to feed the back side by charging the IRS returns a 'Fine', charging really good coverage a 'Penalty tax' to supply the plans that would not was at best a Carpet Bagging Scheme of days gone by and a Circus Harker's best game played.

It as a plan is already falling apart at the seams, eyes are on it but the media keep hyping the advantages that have already evaporated and have no conscience as to making the plan appear better off than it really is. People are already losing plans, people are already losing coverage, people are losing vital moneys that could have been used in any form of a better product than exists and NO it wasn't a stepping stone awaiting improvement, it was a laughing stock of bullshyte.
